October 31, 2024 | A Focus Group Discussion took place to delve into the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Revised SBM System. The session aimed to foster a deeper understanding of DepEd Order 007, s. 2024, and assess the implications of the revised framework on school operations and community involvement.

Mr. Erwin A. Asugui, Master Teacher I, facilitated the discussion, presenting an overview of DepEd Order 007, s. 2024, which covers the updated SBM framework. His presentation provided valuable insights into the policy changes, emphasizing the need for schools to adapt to the new requirements to enhance governance and accountability at the school level.

Following Mr. Asugui’s session, the school principal, Dr. Naneth P. Salvador, led a presentation on the results of the SBM Self-Assessment, a critical tool in evaluating the school’s compliance and performance under the SBM framework. Her report highlighted key areas of strength and improvement, setting the stage for strategic planning. Dr. Salvador also introduced the SBM Implementation Plan, designed to address identified gaps and guide the school toward achieving higher standards in management and instructional quality.

The FGD saw active participation from key stakeholders, whose presence underscored the importance of community involvement in school governance. Mrs. Elsa Fauni, President of the School Governing Council (SGC), represented the interests of the local community, Mr. Bobot Ortega, President of the School Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA), voiced the perspectives of parents and guardians, while Gracielle Gaduina, president of Supreme Secondary Learner Government, represented the students. Their engagement in the discussion exemplified the collaborative spirit of SBM, which encourages input from all stakeholders to create a more inclusive and effective school environment.
