LOOK | North High banks accolades in DFOT 2025 English Excellence Awards

Spotlight on to Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. North National High School (LYFJNNHS) after plucking illustrious awards in the recent 2025 English Excellence Awards of this year’s Division Festival of Talents (DFOT): Read-a-Thon in English conducted by the Department of Education – Division of General Trias City on March 22, 2025.

North High hauled home the following awards:

1. Best Implementer of Basic Education Curriculum in English (Secondary)

2. Best Performing School in English Competitions (Secondary)

3. Finalist – Best Implementer of Reading Program

4. Finalist – Outstanding Key Teacher in English (Secondary) – Ms. Gigi Lyn v. Aticaldo

5. Special Award – Most Participative School

Additionally, five North High students triumphed in various competitions of the 2025 DFOT.

Aizelle May Z.Gulong – 3rd Place, Essay Writing Contest (Coach: Ms. Margie L. Rodriguez)

Rhojean M. Angel – 4th Place, Five-Minute Pecha Kucha (Coach: Arneliz S. Rojas)

Isaiah Robi D. P. Alejandro – 5th Place, Essay Writing Contest (Coach: Ms. Haydee Z. Fabellon)

Robinson C. Luego Jr. – 5th Place, Infographics Making Contest (Coach: Apple Claire A. Canillo)

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Ivan Brian L. Inductivo, Education Program Supervisor in English, Ma. Glecita C. Columna, Chief Education Supervisor School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD), Laura O. Garcia, Chief Education Supervisor of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Ines L. Inocencio graced the conduct of the said awards ceremony.

The North High English Department, piloted by Dr. Naneth P. Salvador (School Principal) and Ms. Gigi Lyn V. Aticaldo (Key Teacher in English), along with Dr. Arlene M. Hernandez (Cluster 9-Public Schools District Supervisor), believes that the slow and steady wins the race and that the LYFJNNHS community, in any competitions and endeavors, is not anymore in the making but shall remain the elephant in DepEd Gentri’s room. ~Dolor, TNT
