Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. North National High School (LYFJNNHS) convened a virtual meeting on July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the immediate implementation of Project DREAMS (Driving Resilience, Excellence, and Athletic Mastery in Sports), a flagship initiative of the MAPEH Department.

The meeting was led by Mr. Erwin A. Asugui, MAPEH Subject Coordinator, under the supervision of School Principal Dr. Naneth P. Salvador. Mr. Asugui presented the project’s background, progress, and current status, noting its transition from the development phase to full implementation. He emphasized the importance of proper scouting and enlisting of qualified student-athletes, including those with special needs (SNEDs).

Project DREAMS is anchored on legal frameworks such as Republic Act No. 10588, also known as the Palarong Pambansa Act of 2013, and DepEd Memorandum No. 41, s.2025, which support sustained talent identification and training for division, regional, and national competitions. The initiative aims to promote a sustainable and inclusive sports program and provide structured opportunities for learners with athletic potential.

Mr. Asugui also outlined the scope of the project, stating that sports sections will be classified based on available resources, training schedules, venues, and coaching personnel. Each student-athlete will be allowed to participate in only one sport to ensure focused development.

Dr. Salvador assured attendees that all aspects of the project are aligned with DepEd guidelines and the school calendar, and that implementation will not disrupt regular classes. She encouraged all teachers to actively support Project DREAMS and participate in its activities to strengthen stakeholder engagement.

In support of the initiative, Ms. Danielle A. Casuyon, President of the School Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA), pledged full backing for Project DREAMS and other school programs. ~ Dolor, TNT
